I’ve always moved between different forms of expression—songwriting, producing, video-making—each one adding to the other, creating something that feels bigger than the sum of its parts. Growing up between Detroit and Nashville, I found myself drawn to the grit and soul of music, and when I landed in New York in the late ’90s, I co-founded The Jealous Girlfriends. That was the start of something new, and it led me to work with people like John Angello and Dave Sitek, who produced my debut solo album, The Magicians Private Library. Since then, each musical project I’ve done—from Mutual Horse to my self-titled album—has been about evolving and finding new ways to connect through sound.

In 2020, I teamed up with Ambrosia Parsley and Elissa Young to start Eye Knee Records. I released Virtual Funeral through our label and have had the chance to support other artists I believe in. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to perform alongside some incredible people—Leslie Gore, Tegan and Sara, Lou Reed, Karen O—and collaborate with artists like Erol Alken and CREEP. Those experiences have shaped me, but so has my work outside music. Charities like Abortion Access Front, Abundance Farms and Waves for Water are close to my heart, and I try to give my time and energy where I can.

In 2023, I partnered with Gracie Coates (of Gracie and Rachel) to start Golly Presents. Since then we’ve been producing events in the Hudson Valley, creating spaces for new voices to be heard. And now, we’re working on opening a Golly music venue and café in Woodstock, NY, in 2025. It feels like a natural next step—a third safe space for people to gather, listen, and hopefully feel inspired. I hope you’ll stop by and say hi.
